Use web research with Cursor

Search the live web, render JavaScript pages and get cited answers back. Connect Cursor to the WingMan MCP gateway once and these tools are available in every conversation.

1. Connect Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project), then enable the server under Settings, MCP.

2. The tools you get

Names and descriptions come straight from the live tool registry.

• researchOne-call web research: searches the web, renders the top hits in the real browser, and returns a GROUNDED, CITED answer ({answer, sources:[…
• web_searchFind things on the live web: top results as [{title, url, snippet}].
• web_readRead a web page the way `fetch` can't: render the REAL (JavaScript/SPA) page in a headless browser and return clean readability markdown.
• web_discoverTier-0 front door: check whether a site offers an AGENT-NATIVE interface (llms.txt / OpenAPI / ai-plugin) and prefer it over scraping.
• browseNavigate to a URL and return status + any anti-bot challenge + the page as markdown.

These tools are in the default tool list, so they show up as soon as the server connects.

3. Ask for it

Give Cursor a task that needs it, for example “use research from wingman”. The tool call goes to https://wingmanprotocol.com/mcp and the result comes back into the conversation.
