A permit-required confined space is large enough for a worker to enter, has limited entry or exit, is not designed for continuous occupancy, and contains or could contain a serious hazard such as a hazardous atmosphere, engulfment risk, or configuration hazard.
What atmospheric conditions require testing before entry?
Test for oxygen, flammables, and any toxic gases that could be present based on the work and space history. Typical acceptable entry conditions are oxygen between 19.5% and 23.5%, flammables below alarm thresholds, and toxic gases below applicable exposure limits.
Who can be the entry supervisor?
