How this is calculated
If you give us footprint and pitch, we estimate roof area as footprint x pitch multiplier (1.00 low / 1.15 medium / 1.30 steep). One roofing square = 100 sqft.
- Bundles: 3 bundles per square for standard asphalt 3-tab and architectural; metal/tile/slate are priced by square direct (no bundle math).
- Nails: ~320 nails per square for 4-nail pattern, ~480 for high-wind 6-nail pattern. We use 320.
- Underlayment: Typical synthetic roll covers 4 squares (10 sqft x 250 ft).
- Drip edge: Estimated perimeter from area assuming a roughly square plan: perimeter ≈ 4 × sqrt(area). Add 10% to be safe.
- Material cost ranges per square: asphalt 3-tab $80-$110, architectural $100-$150, metal $300-$700, tile $300-$700, slate $1,000-$1,500.
