Sell immediately and there may be little or no additional gain or loss beyond transaction noise. Hold after vest and every future move becomes a separate capital gain or loss decision. Founder shares and ESPPs add two more specialized rules. Never exercise a meaningful ISO block without running the AMT numbers. Thinking RSUs are taxed only when sold
